Silhouette at Sunset, Stoltzfus Homestead GardensFrom beginning to end, when I took this portrait, Andrew and Kelley’s wedding at Stoltzfus Homestead Gardens was absolutely beautiful. As their guests continued to celebrate, the couple stole away to a nearby hillside just as the sun was setting. Both the bride and groom enjoyed the chance to have a private moment together as I photographed them against the evening sky. The colors of deep blue, light purple, and sunlit orange were beautiful and natural hues for this portrait’s backdrop. These colors greatly enhanced the romance of the couple’s silhouetted embrace. One thing I love doing for clients at night is not only to take advantage of the natural setting, but also to enhance it by using my own lighting. To create the touch of light that glows around the bride’s dress and hair, I had my assistant go behind them and point the flash towards Kelley. The effect is eye-catching compared to the gentler colors of the rest of this portrait. A night portrait like this one is a great way to end a wedding album. The Stoltzfus Homestead Gardens venue is beautifully placed in the midst of Lancaster County. I observed that friendly staff was very accommodating to the bride and groom as they were dedicated to making sure that their wedding was a beautiful and celebratory occasion. With its quaint farmhouse, lighted outdoor lounge, lovely landscaping, and rustic yet elegant reception barn, Stoltzfus Homestead Gardens provides many beautiful backdrops for wedding photography.
