Romantic Wedding Portrait, Peabody

After their beautiful wedding ceremony in Towson, Maryland, I took the bride and groom to their magnificent reception hall, the Peabody Library, to capture some romantic photos of the couple before their guests arrived. Hannah and Matt appreciated this brief but quiet time to themselves as they enjoyed their first few moments together as a married couple. Not only do I seek to take close-up portraits to capture the couple’s expressions, but I also like to take wide shots that capture the romantic ambiance of the scenery. The romantically lit library along with its regal architecture was a beautiful setting for this wedding portrait. Placing them in the center of the room, I asked the bride and groom to hold each other, relax, and enjoy themselves while I stepped back to photograph them in the midst of the library’s grandeur. One’s eyes are drawn center stage to the dancing newlyweds by the flare of light behind them. This backlit flash was achieved by having my assistant remain unseen while holding a flash behind the bride and groom. While the darkness adds to the romance of this wedding portrait, the light enhances its drama. The George Peabody Library is a favorite Baltimore venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions. This breathtaking library boasts 300,000 volumes that are framed by six tiers of columned walls, classically styled railings, and marble flooring. Not only is it beautiful, it is also functional as it is able to comfortably host wedding receptions made up of nearly 200 guests. The Peabody Library is a classy venue that provides many elegant backdrops for wedding portraits and I would love to have another opportunity to photograph there.
