Romantic Forest Wedding Portrait, Maryland ZooOn a beautifully sunny afternoon, Megan and Jeff celebrated their wedding at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. This romantic portrait was taken on one of the zoo’s many beautiful lawns. Megan and Jeff were a sweet couple to work with and I could tell that they enjoyed this private moment together in the midst of their excitement-filled wedding day. When I have the opportunity, I always like taking wide landscape shots so I placed the couple amongst a grove of majestic trees and asked them to relax and enjoy themselves while I photographed from a distance. The Baltimore Zoo has many private locations for wide shots like this one so it was easy to find an elegant setting where we did not have to work around the zoo’s many guests. The branches stretching out over them naturally framed the lovely couple. The bright patch of sky that breaks through the trees above the bride and groom also lit up the ground surrounding them; drawing one’s eyes to the portrait’s center. I also like how the bride’s pure-white wedding dress stands out nicely against the green foliage behind her, causing her to become the focal point. Because it is taken from a distance, I was able to give this portrait a candid and romantic feeling, as it appears that they are all alone together in the forest. The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is a beautiful location for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Featuring a stately wrap-around porch, the venue’s Mansion House boasts a lovely view of the well-tended park. The Maryland Zoo has many aesthetic backdrops against which I was able to take a variety of romantic wedding portraits and I look forward to having another opportunity to photograph there again.
