Hannah and Matt were caught up in their loving moment at the front of Towson Presbyterian Church, and seemed to notice little else. To capture this specialness of this moment, I manipulated the lighting to create romance and drama for this portrait. The darkness of the photo’s outskirts reduces distractions while the light at the back of the sanctuary beautifully lit the center of this romantic portrait. Finally, one’s eyes are drawn center stage to the newlyweds by the flare of light behind them. This backlit flash was achieved by having my assistant remain unseen while holding a flash behind the bride and groom. While the darkness adds to the romance of this wedding portrait, the light enhances its drama.
